What kind if games do you most enjoy, board games, card games, or maybe video games? Whatever game is you favorite, this is the day to play it and have some fun for a change! After all, what better a break could you take from the stresses of everyday life than to partake in Games Day? As generation upon would generation of people the world over would agree, playing games is a great way to just kick back, relax and have some fun with your family of friends.
Games Day was created by the British game production and retail company, Games Workshop, which started out producing more traditional games such as backgammon, and later moved on to fantasy universe games, such as Warhammer. This day of carefree whimsical frivolity was created rather abruptly in 1975 when another games convention that got cancelled, and the gap thereby created needed to be filled. The very first of these soon to become extremely popular events took place in London on December 20, 1975. In a very short period of time, these events really took the UK’s gaming community by storm and brought many people together, which did a great deal to build up the nation’s gaming scene. Of course, this style of convention quickly sprung up and became enormously popular in the US as well, and acts as a fantastic showcase both for gamers and their skills and the gaming industry.

Abbott was an English theologian, schoolmaster, and author. He wrote educational textbooks, theological works, and a biography of Francis Bacon, and his 1870 Shakespearian Grammar became a permanent fixture of English philology. However, his most famous work is a playfully inventive 1884 novella best described as "mathematical fiction." The humorous and satirical tale has enjoyed an enduring popularity, particularly among mathematicians and students.

Newport Harbor Christmas Boat Parade is a nightly parade of boats at Newport Beach, California. More than 150 boats of all kinds, wildly decorated with lights depicting Santa Claus, snowmen, and other symbols of winter, join the parade. Some boats carry huge inflated figures and many play music. The floating parades started in 1908 as a Fourth of July spectacular. In 1946, the city put a tree and carolers on a barge and towed it around the harbor, and that began the current December parades. Today, about a million spectators watch them during the festival.

Salak
Salak (Salacca zalacca) is the fruit of a species of palm tree native to Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. The fruits grow in clusters at the base of the palm, and are also known as snake fruit due to the reddish-brown scaly skin. Individual fruits are about the size and shape of a ripe fig, with a distinct tip that can be pinched to peel the fruit. Inside the fruit are three edible lobes, which resemble and have the consistency of peeled garlic cloves. The taste is usually sweet and acidic, with a strong astringent edge.

Question: Made of metal and wood, these old sleds definitely gave plenty of wintry rides to kids in their day. The natural-finish sled is an Airline Racer; the painted one is a Hiawatha. Are there differences in the value and age of these sleds? What makes a sled particularly collectible?
Answer: Samuel Leeds Allen was granted a patent for his Flexible Flyer sled in 1889. Unlike earlier sleds, the Flexible Flyer could be steered by applying pressure to either side of a bar at the front of the sled. Sales took off when Allen, who manufactured farm and garden tools, began marketing his sleds to toy departments of department stores. In 1915, S.L. Allen & Co. Inc. of Philadelphia sold 120,000 Flexible Flyers. The Airline Racer was a line of Flexible Flyer sleds. This 60-inch sled retailed for $7.95 in 1941. Hiawatha was a store brand sold by Gambles stores. The decoration dates it to the 1960s. Unless they are from the 1920s or older and in excellent condition, Flexible Flyer-type sleds are seldom priced more than $60, and often much less—depending on the season.
